Is it just me or does the description of the early church at the end of Acts 2 seem foreign? They were so close. They met regularly — as in daily. They held everything in common. They were a family. They actually seem like they wanted to be together. They were one unit. They weren’t a disjointed group of people who just agree to come listen to music and hear a guy speak once a week. We have a hard enough time getting together once a month outside of Sunday mornings. They got together every day! Can you imagine? We’d call them a cult today. We’d hide our children and warn the neighbors.
I’m guessing though that’s the kind of church that changes the world. Historically, that’s been the kind of church that initiates revival. That’s been the kind of church that impacts the community. I know that the early church did. Why? They loved God and loved one another. Two indisputable components of a church that makes a difference.
