By this point in going through the New Testament, you can start picking up a few themes in what Jesus talks about. He likes talking about the Kingdom of God. He keeps bringing up his eventual death (he even mentioned that in this passage). Another continual theme is that what makes someone great in God’s eyes isn’t the same as what makes them great in the world’s eyes. God is looking for people who will serve others.
Humility is a key trait of Kingdom-minded people. And humility is demonstrated primarily by service. I pray I’m the kind of man who will humbly look out for the needs of others before myself.
