The little boy in today’s story gave all he had to Jesus — five loaves and two fishes. It wasn’t much, but it was all he had. We need to be ready to do the same thing. In the big scheme of things, none of us have much to offer Jesus when it comes to affecting the spiritual destinies of others. But the question is, are we giving him everything? Jesus wants nothing less. He can take our little time, little money, and little influence and turn them into mighty miracles.
But he does want everything. I can often shrink back on that. What if I give everything and lose it all? But like the little boy and his fishes and loaves, we never really do lose it all, do we? Somehow God always comes back to bless us with more than we could ever imagine.
